Visitor Accommodation

 The Urapuntja Aboriginal Corporation (UAC) manages a small number of visitor accommodation rooms.  The accommodation is “donga” style.  Demand is high and availability is limited, therefore, we cannot meet all requests.  Contact our office with your accommodation enquiry/request.

Services

Advocacy

We actively engage with all bodies that have stakeholder interest in the daily and long-term interest of the Aboriginal people and communities of the Urapuntja Homelands and our neighbours.  We assist both individuals and communities in navigating the various bureaucracies to achieve good outcomes. Our primary purpose for existence is to represent and advocate on behalf of the peoples of the Urapuntja Homelands.

Social, Family and Community Support

Strong families and social support are essential for strong communities.  We are developing, with the assistance of Government, a range of programs to help both individuals and community. It is early days for us, however, we are proud of our:

Stronger Communities for Children

The Stronger Communities for Children (SCfC) Program is an initiative between UAC and our funding partners, National Indigenous Australians’ Agency (NIAA).  The program is designed to give Aboriginal children and young people the best possible start in life so that children and young people grow up strong, healthy and confident.

Community Organisation Support

We support other community organisations with activities and programs that strengthen our community.  This includes local sponsorship and assistance to sporting organisations such as the “Arlparra Dockers”.

The inter-town/region sporting weekend is a good example of the key organisations within the Urapuntja Homelands collaborating and delivering on community initiatives.  We also partner with organisations to deliver vital support services/activities such as financial literacy programs.

Cultural Activity Support

We provide resources and financial support for cultural activities including Men’s Business, Ceremony, and Funerals.  The level support will vary according to funding partnerships we have at the time.  Individuals and Communities are urged to contact our office to explore what assistance we can provide.

Municipal Services & Homelands Maintenance

The delivery of “municipal” type services and housing maintenance is delivered in partnership with the Northern Territory Government Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities under the Housing, Municipal and Essential Services Program.

Municipal Services

We provide these services on limited resources often in a service vacuum.

Special Projects

Increasingly funding bodies are partnering with Urapuntja Aboriginal to deliver much needed projects within the Homelands.  Two current developments include;
